Happy International Women’s Day from BOND Collective
By Ashley Espinal, Community Manager at BOND 60 Broad
It’s no surprise that we at Bond Collective are taking the time to celebrate International Women’s Day. Not only do we have some of the most talented and witty female members in all of the land (I’m not exaggerating here), we also have a strong and vibrant staff that is over 60% female!
At a time where more women are being empowered by a rough political atmosphere (don’t worry we won’t get political over here), the more we set out to have our voices heard and more women of the world are taking action. There is a clear rise in women empowered blogs, forums, podcasts, marches and groups that are geared to helping women succeed in the workplace and everyday lives, regardless of the obstacles placed before them. We are seeing more women becoming entrepreneurs, leading their respective industries to success and feeling free to choose their own version of happiness. The freedom to choose what makes you happy is inherently the definition of being free. Feminism at its finest!
Our small, yet vocal staff, consists of some of the most independent, passionate, talented women that I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. They are truthfully one of the many reasons that make Bond Collective the vibrant company that it is, which helps to foster the same atmosphere in each of our spaces. Aside from our day-to-day duties of helping our awesome members grow and become the best they can be, we realize that the foundation of what we do and who we are, not only has a strong female presence behind it, it has women who are actively working on lifting each other up.
“Feminism is about giving women choice. Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with. It’s about freedom, it’s about liberation, it’s about equality.
– Emma Watson
That’s why today, we are celebrating not only the women of Bond Collective, but those that came before us and generations behind us. On top of that, we are currently opening our arms to those women that need that extra push, those extra words of encouragement to feel free in their lives and choices. Because if we don’t encourage and want each other to succeed, we as a whole, won’t make it that far. Now is the time for us to hold hands, speak up and continue moving forward.
That’s why I’d love to share a few of my favorite blogs/podcasts that have helped me not only look at myself a little bit better, but have taught me that by sticking up for myself, I stick up for all women, everywhere. And if you’re anything like me, and your commute drives you crazy then this is your perfect tune to listen to on your commute! Enjoy! And if I dare say so myself, the future is definitely Female.
